Background
The Fairey Gannet revolutionized maritime aviation in the 1950s. As the first carrier aircraft specially developed for anti-submarine warfare, it combined innovative technology with impressive versatility. Its characteristic design with the Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba twin turboprop engine and counter-rotating propellers made it an unmistakable milestone in aviation history. The Gannet served not only in the Royal Navy, but also in the German Federal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.
